Why Hoop Mountain Midwest
Hoop Mountain Midwest,
"The #1 Instructional Basketball
Camp in the Midwest!"
"Here is why no one does it better than Hoop Mountain Midwest!"
GORDIE KERKMAN:
Head Coach, West Aurora High School and Head Coach, Hoop Mountain Midwest. Head Coach U.S. West team, McDonald's All-American Game, March, 2012.
Top-Notch Athletes:
Hoop Mountain Midwest attracts better athletes than many other camps. That's because we target good players who are coachable and are passionate about playing basketball. We cannot make a poor player a great player in three or four days. But we certainly can help him learn a lot of basic to advanced skills that can assist him in making major strides in the future.
We cannot promise that you will get a scholarship to a D-1 school if you attend one of our camps. But we will promise that if you are passionate about basketball, are willing to work hard, and are open to coaching suggestions that may be new to you, there is an excellent chance of your moving to a new, higher skill level.

Outstanding Coaches:
Because we are "The #1 Instructional Camp In The Midwest," you will find that some of the best high school and D-3 coaches in the Midwest return year after year to coach our summer camps. They know they will be teaching strong, basic fundamentals to dedicated young players who are willing to learn and are eager to advance to a higher basketball skill level.
It's not surprising that most of these outstanding coaches have super won-loss records. Legends such as Gordie Kerkman of West Aurora H.S. in Aurora, Illinois, and Ken Crawford of Teutopolis (Illinois) H.S. both have over 700 wins. Each also has an Illinois State Championship plus a number of Elite Eight and Sweet Sixteen trophies.
Other Hoop Mountain Midwest head coaches such as David Weber, Glenbrook North H.S., Northbrook, Illinois, and Steve Bennett, New Castle H.S., New Castle, Indiana, also have won state titles and have posted spectacular winning seasons.
They are joined by a staff of 30-40 other high school and D-3 coaches. They are made up of a mix of seasoned, veteran coaches and younger on-the-rise winners mostly from Illinois and neighboring states. All of them follow the Hoop Mountain Midwest "Teach, Demonstrate, and Motivate" philosophy.
It is the strength of this group that continues to attract other top-notch coaches to join our elite coaching ranks.

Wide Range of Camps:
At Hoop Mountain Midwest, we offer you a choice of six different camps. You can target the camp that is best for you whether you are a younger beginner, an experienced player, or a college prospect. Super Facilities:
Our 2012 summer camps will be held in three different locations...Trinity International University, Deerfield IL; Illinois Wesleyan University, Bloomington, IL; and Lewis University, Romeoville, IL. During your stay, you will be housed in one of the universities' modern dormitory rooms where you will share an air conditioned room with one other camper. All dorm facilities will be supervised by adult monitors, counselors, and coaches. (Please note on the registration form that you may request a roommate.)
Campers will be offered a wide variety of flavorful, nutritious, all-you-can-eat meals served buffet style in the universities' cafeterias In addition, we have a concession stand adjacent to the courts where the campers can purchase Gatorade, bottled water, pizza, candy, bananas, apples, oranges, chips, soft drinks, and T-shirts.
All of our courts are indoor, air conditioned facilities with up-to-date wood floors
