Mission Statement:

The Mission of the All Academic Camp presented by Hoop Mountain is to provide top level student athletes with a venue to showcase their basketball talents. Our goal is to provide the best student athletes in the country an opportunity to be seen by the best academic institutions in the country. This relationship will reward special student athletes for there academic and athletic abilities.

  1. Maximum Exposure
  • The All Academic Camp will be recruited by the top academic/athletic schools in the country. The staff will be comprised of virtually all college coaches.
  • This will be an NCAA certified recruiting event
  • Division I, II, and III college coaches will attend this camp.
  • The National Prep School and High School Scouting Report will attend and evaluate players
  • President of Hoop Mountain, Steven Gibbs serves on the McDonald’s All American Committee and nominates players for the Hoop Mountain Prime Time All Star game

Camp Director Profiles:

Steve Gibbs, Director
Steve Gibbs is the President and founder of Hoop Mountain, Inc. Steve founded Hoop Mountain in 1985 and has allowed it to grow into an elite basketball enterprise. Steve served as the co-founder of the well respected prep basketball magazine, High School Hoop. Steve also formed the High School Hoop Scouting Report, which was a huge hit with college basketball scouts around the country. Steve has written articles for the prestigious Eastern Basketball Magazine, has appeared many times on Sports Channel basketball shows, and has hosted various cable and radio sport shows. Steve nominates high school basketball players for the McDonald's All American game. Recently, Steve has signed on with the National High School and Prep School Scouting Report, which will give every Hoop Mountain camper an opportunity to receive national exposure.

Greg Kristof, Director
Greg Kristof is a managing partner at Hoop Mountain, Inc. Kristof is the director of Hoop Mountain New York as well as Hoop Mountain Personal Instruction. In addition, Kristof is the co-editor of the National High School and Prep School Scouting Report. Kristof has helped establish Hoop Mountain Franchises in Illinois, Kansas, Georgia, New Jersey, and New York. Greg was a four year varsity letter winner at Brandeis University and a team captain for two years. Kristof was a member of the University Athletic Association All-Academic team for three years. Kristof was a 1,000 point scorer at Medfield High School and league all-star for three years.

Brian Meehan, Director
Brian Meehan is the 11th men's basketball coach in Brandeis history. Meehan arrived at Brandeis in 2003 after 10 years at Salem State College. He served as an assistant coach at Salem State from 1993 to 1996, when he became head coach. In his seven years at the helm, Meehan compiled an outstanding 160-39 record, including 87-10 in conference play. His .804 winning percentage is the highest among active Division III coaches with at least five years experience.

Meehan led the Vikings to seven straight Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference (MASCAC) titles and six NCAA tournament appearances. In 2000, the team reached the Division III Final Four, finishing in third place. Meehan earned New England Coach of the Year honors from the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) and the New England Basketball Coaches Association for his efforts.

During Meehan’s tenure, Salem State produced four All-Americans and seven first-team All-New England selections. Meehan is a member of the NCAA Northeast Regional Advisory Committee, the NABC Legislative Committee and is the NABC Division III Congressman.

Jay Tilton, Head Commissioner
Jay Tilton is in his fifth year as the boy’s basketball coach and associate director of admissions at the prestigious Phillips Exeter Academy in Exeter, NH. Phillips Exeter is a Class “A” New England Prep School that competes against some of the top Prep Programs in the country. Prior to working at Phillips Exeter, Tilton was an assistant coach at Division 1, Dartmouth College, which is in the Ivy League. Recently, Tilton has helped place players at schools such as Davidson, UPENN, Williams, Tufts, and Brandeis. Tilton’s focus and expertise is on player development, as well as articulating to players what tools they need to get to the next level.

Criteria: In order to be considered for the All Academic Camp Presented by Hoop Mountain a player needs a above a 3.2 GPA(un-weighted) and an SAT(Math and Verbal Section) of above 1150.
